Pianist and chamber music visionary, Yoko Greeney is “one of the most significant members in Portland’s classical music scene,” (Oregon ArtsWatch) contributing excellence and depth through a multifaceted career of directing, performing, teaching, and engagement. Celebrated for her sensitivity, style, and “fantastic attack” (Portland Tribune) Greeney is a passionate collaborator, having enjoyed the role of accompanist in the Aspen Music Festival, Bard Music Festival, California State University Summer Arts, and as a guest artist with the Alexander String Quartet. Since moving to Portland, Oregon, she has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, BodyVox, Portland Piano International, and 45th Parallel Universe, with additional live radio broadcasts on All Classical Portland. A dedicated music educator with a desire to modernize music platforms and increase access, Greeney is the Founder and Director of SoundsTruck NW, a custom, state-of-the-art mobile venue and nonprofit that enhances the health and wellness of communities through music. She teaches piano at Lewis & Clark College, maintains a private studio, and coaches chamber music for the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. Serving as a Board Member for several nonprofits, she is also the Education and Community Engagement Committee Chair for Chamber Music Northwest. Originally from Osaka, Japan, Greeney received a Master’s Degree from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. Alongside her husband Jon, Greeney is a gracious and devoted supporter of the arts and education, frequently hosting and performing for fundraisers and charities.
